the prodigal daughter returns
By me • Jul 23rd, 2008 • Category: Mr. Codejnki, today's blog 365 postWhy hello there!
You may not remember me, so let me re-introduce myself. My name’s Sara, and I used to blog regularly here at stereotypical single woman. In fact it was my greatest outlet, but I had to take a break from my potty-mouthed, whiney, cat-ass-filled posts to finish up a summer semester of grad school and work on a few other professional projects. I missed you all so very very much, but I got a LOT done in the last few weeks. Some of it I won’t bore you with because it really is that geeky and career specific, but other stuff, well, if you’re nice, maybe I’ll tell you about it. Some of it’s good. So very very good.
Okay, in the time honored tradition of having a drink and catching up with someone you haven’t seen in a while, go ahead, go pour yourself a drink, I’ll wait for you to come back. While you’re doing that I’ll fire up the bulleted list feature on Wordpress so we can quickly get up to date and pick up where we left off.
Wow, back so soon? You lush, you had that pitcher of margaritas just sitting in your fridge, didn’t you?
You’re my kind of person, we really need to hang out more often.
So what did I accomplish during the month I took off?
- pretty sure I 4pted another semester (despite using the phrase “presents an of undistilled view of humanity, to the point of admitting using an A1 steak sauce bottle in obscene ways” during an oral final on the topic of “Who is your favorite modern humanist and why?”), just waiting for the grades to be posted at this point (this means I can seriously slack on my last one)(but if you’re the betting type I wouldn’t put any money on it)
- got recruited to make yet another website for school
- taped some earth-shatteringly important and moving instructional videos for orientation on topics such as “Understanding the Internet” and “File Management” No, I will not be linking to them. If you’re smart enough you’ll be able to find them on your own. Not that I recommend it. Seriously, they’re that boring.
- commissioned some artwork to be drawn for me in Seattle, and then had it displayed on my fridge in Detroit 15min later

- spent way more time dicking around on the internet than I care to admit, and found some great stuff to amuse myself when I should have been studying
- met an amazingly charming and handsome computer geek that I have yet to scare away
- discussed Bertha, her wind speed, and her progression way too many times with Hurricane Lady
- finally acknowledged that I have a facebook acct, and have spent hours finding and catching up with people I haven’t seen in years (and playing more Mob Wars than is healthy)
- got recruited to be on a “Read” poster for Welcome Week at school (and consequently have hair and eyebrow appts, a new friendship with the treadmill, and plans to go shopping before next Fri)
- had my chipped front tooth fixed 3 (yes, three) times
- worried as my sister had gastric bypass surgery, went home, then went back to the emergency room, and then back home again
- annoyed the cats by forcing them to play with Photo Booth when I should have been doing homework
-

bershon cat
- started an all out war with the financial aid office at school, because I filled out a FAFSA in early Feb and still have yet to receive a financial aid package for the fall. And I know that the first time they do it it’s going to be completely wrong, so I’m trying to get them to get their asses in gear and put their mistakes in print so I can point out how totally insane they are and make them do it again. Yet every time I attack their fuckingly imcompetent defense is “but we’re still working on packages for the spring/summer semester” (which ends this week)
So, yeah, that’s the last five weeks or so in a nutshell. I’m sure I’ve left something out, but I’m not going any where, so we’ll be able to talk about it later. It’s so good to be back.

Good to have you back! I missed reading your posts.
yeah, yeah yeah..so you’ve been busy doing your thing…at least you still have a good gpa going for you and for that I’m happy and thankful for you and your attention to getting things done right..something you have a nack for…got home from Seattle yesterday sporting Gretchen’s runny nose and drainage problem so went to bed early and slept most of today however I was suppose to be working but since there was nothing to do I punched in as 6:35 and out at 6:45 cool huh? so who’s this hunk you met? glad you haven’t scared him away yet..just don’t go psycho on him and all will be good…teehee Love ya and talk at ya later mom
Glad to hear what is going on - seems the only time we get to talk lately was in the dentist office. Seems that I get all the news from your younger sister. Ask him what I have to do to get my computer card reader to read the 4 gig cards. It reads 2 gig real good, but not the 4 gig (and that is what mother has the pix on). I can copy them from the card to the internal memory of the camera, and then from the camera internal memory to a 2 gig card - BUT that takes time!! He might just as well do something for me. Have to check out your sis’s weekend schedule to see when we can come to Detroit. Love ya. DAD
You’re alive! I was a bit worried. Kept thinking that maybe you’d fallen and were incapacitated for days on end. And then…the cats would get hungry. It sort of turned into a bad 70’s movie after that.
Well done on the semester, and the computer geek. Those are dead handy to have around the house.
There are indeed some deeply exciting things in your list. Glad to see you were having a productive time off-line. - wish I could say the same about July!
Mmmmm margaritas….
(I become a fan on facebook)
Or rather, I became a fan on facebook - obviously I was a fan of the actual beverage a long time beforehand….
Ah, to be able to type properly….
Hi! I’m a friend of codejnki’s from way back.
::Waves::
I spend way too much time on the internet, am a grad student, and also have three cats.
Your are so TOTALLY a SupaStar! A READ poster, even?
If you promise not to steal my idea, I’ll tell you my idea for my own read poster, and it will say across the top: “Make it a Habit”
Below it, it will show a silhouette of someone with a needle up to his arm and the thingie to tie around his arm to make it easier to inject (damned if I know what it’s called)
and of course, below it, it will say READ
I already have some buyers (of the poster, that is).
Yay! You’re back! Glad to hear you are still alive and kickin’. Sounds like you had a productive month ‘off’. Nice job on the handsome computer geek!
FAFSA blows. I submitted my application in April…nothing, nothing…called in May and found out that their computer system decided to change my last name for me. Thanks, but…such a bunch of incompetent idiots.
