Tuesday nights
By me • Apr 29th, 2008 • Category: today's blog 365 post, workTuesday nights are by far my favorite time to work. Aside from the fact that my library stalker routinely plants his ass at computer number 4 no later than two and doesn’t leave until we close at nine, always making a point to come up and tell me something creepy like “he was at the grocery store, and saw this woman buying cat food, and it was just so funny, you know, a woman? buying cat food? crazy, huh? and it made him think of me”, it’s always low key and fun. My boss isn’t there and my coworkers that night are great.
They’re older guys, one is a South African immigrant, educated and amazingly patient. He has a very dry wit and consistently makes me laugh. The other is retired, blunt, cynical, and routinely lets us know that his wife made him find a part time job once he retired otherwise she was going to kill him. Oh, and his daughter is the director of the library, so we can get away with anything when we’re working with him. The man is a riot. Last week he decided to help me with my grocery list.
(oh, and the “stuff?” as cool as these guys are, they didn’t need to know I needed tampons. Or, even worse, for library stalker dude to come over to the desk and see it. Then, the next time he was at the grocery store, he’d see a woman buying feminine hygiene products and get an erection. And that’s just creepy.)
Tonight’s my last night working with them. I got a new job at a library with 1/4 of the commute, health, dental, AND vision insurance (just thinking about all that makes me so excited I have a small orgasm) AND partial tuition reimbursement (big orgasm on that one.) I’m not going to be making much more, but the benefits made it impossible to pass up. The only person I’ve told is my boss though, so tonight I’m going to have to tell them. Some of my other coworkers I can’t wait to say good-bye to, but not these guys. I’m really going to miss them, and by them I mean my coworkers, not library stalker dude. I’m looking forward to getting away from him.*
* and if anyone tells him where my new job is I will hurt you

Congratulations! That’s excellent news.
Congratulations! May your new workplace be stalker free!
Congratulations on your new job; benefits are terrific!
Sounds like the new job is a definite upgrade - that’s great! Hopefully stalker guy will never ever find out where it is.
Congratulations!! That sounds like an excellent move - for the benefits alone! You can’t beat any employer that is willing to do tuition reimbursement.
I bet though, you’ll have a new stalker guy at the new place.
Hooray!
Hopefully none of your old co-workers tell him. Although I would imagine if he showed up there, you would have proof he was stalking you and security could boot him out.
