It’s just a sweet little sweater for Gretchen, hopefully it’ll be big enough to fit her this winter. She’s still such a teeny tiny little thing that I still can’t imagine her being big enough to wear it. Amelia also has one in the works, and by Christmas time there will be matching hats for both of them as well. What can I say? I’m planning on taking full advantage of the very short window of time we have where were can dress them alike without pissing them off.
The pattern I based it on is Kipling, and while it was well written and easy to follow, I made a few modifications. The yarn is bulky (and acrylic, but hey, I’m broke, and these sweaters are going to be thrown up on and played in - I love my nieces, but I’m also practical) so I ribbed the edges instead of hemming them to reduce the bulk. I also shortened the collar a few rows, but might go back and lengthen it later, because I’m not too sure I like it. All in all though, it’s been a nice mindless knitting experience, and I’m happy with it, even in it’s unblocked and unseamed state.

I love the colors you picked. It reminds me of neopolitan ice cream!
I think that both girls will look absolutly darling in the matching sweaters and hats, now if we could make Amelia wear the hat long enough to take pics of both of them together in the sweater and hats is another story.
