bella blouse

I bought myself a birthday present today. Sure, it’s a few weeks early, but hopefully it will be here in time for me to spend the day, wherever I am, working on this top. Ever since I saw the Bella Blouse from Interweave Knits a few weeks ago I’ve wanted it. I even love the colors. And I’ve never found a top that I wanted to make for myself before. In fact, I’ve never made a top at all. I’ve always been a socks, scarves, shawls, hats kinda knitter. You know, stuff that doesn’t require any sort of long term commitment. But I’m going to make this. I will be wearing it before the summer is over. I just ordered some Elann Sonata because, well, considering the price and color selection it just doesn’t get any better. I did decide to go for a cooler colorway though, the body will be Alaskan Blue and the lacework borders will be the slightly lighter Glacier Blue. I had initially planned to do something very similar to the picture in the pattern, but once I saw those colors I changed my mind. There’s just something about those light dusky blues that I grabbed my attention. With this top and my sock pal’s socks I think what little summer knitting time I have will be fun.
