nothing much
By me • Apr 26th, 2007 • Category: cats, knitting, schoolThere’s actually been a lot going on in the last week or so that I could have been writing about - horrible doctor’s office experiences and a possible ruptured ovarian cyst (ultimately not that serious, just painful), a clean house (for once), moderately nice weather (it’s about damn time), lots of stuff growing in the front yard, not yet hearing from Wayne State yet and pretty much giving up on idea of getting into that particular program, etc… But quite frankly I just haven’t felt like writing too much this week. Instead of doing what I usually do - thinking of something to write in the evening (because I’m so bored while cleaning banks that my brain needs to do something while I’m there) and then writing bits and pieces of it the next day when I get a chance, I’ve just been spacing out while at the bank and then going home and relaxing with the cats. And doing a little bit of knitting - I’ve been waiting day for a nice sunny day to get a picture so I wouldn’t have to use the flash and Photoshop forever to get even mediocre results, but it’s been raining and gloomy all week - so this is the best I could get. Honestly, it’s really not red hat lady yarn, the color is called oriental poppies - in real life it’s not really a red red, more of a deep coral - and I adore it (even in all it’s unblocked glory.)

Pretty, isn’t it? It’s somewhere between a fingering and laceweight yarn, navajo plied, that I spun from some alpaca/silk/merino blend roving that my sister Trina gave me as a Christmas present. But I didn’t actually receive it until Easter because that’s when she found it. If you’ve ever seen her bedroom or car you realize that this is not only possible, but it’s an actual miracle that it only took four months to find. I would have more done butthe little bastards my dear boys really love this yarn too - so far I’ve woken up with the ball in bed with me twice, stopped Marty from unraveling my knitting after he took it off the needle once (Foster twice), and found it (the project, needle, and ball of yarn) in the bathroom three times, always under the bathtub. So I’ve been frogging and re-knitting A LOT. I don’t know how long of a scarf it will be when it’s done, who it will go to, or what will actually become of it - it’s just a nice stress free lacey scallop thing that I’m enjoying picking up and putting down as time permits.
And this morning I got my invite to contribute to the Sockapalooza 4 blog! There’s over 1000 people all over the world participating - soon I will find out who my sock buddy is and be able to start knitting. I’ve never participated in a knit along or group blog before, so this should be interesting.
