Just wanted to share a few pictures - yesterday my mom and I picked Amelia up from the sitter’s house and this is what she looked like:

The old women in the store kept staring at us like we had abused her - one even came up and asked us why on earth we had done it. When we explained that her sitter had just been having fun she looked horrified and said “I’m so sorry - you’re never taking her back there again are you?” Because apparently putting mousse in a child’s hair is one of the more horrific types of child abuse out there. I’m just glad she didn’t see what we did to her on Sunday - we had been playing with stick-on jewelry and had Elmo and Cookie Monster in some interesting places (her choice - and honestly, she was very proud of her stick-on glittery Big Bird nipple decoration), she would have had child social services on the phone immediately.

And my navel ring has finally healed enough to change the captive ring. I’m so glad to get rid of it, now I can wear the barbells, which are much less prone to movement and irritation from the waistbands of my jeans, and the variety of types to choose from is so much better.

  1. Oh, yeah, mousse is SOOOOO ABUSIVE!
Actually, what IS abusive is running a hotwheels car through a sister’s hair and mashing it all up. Thank you, older brother Matt.
