how my garden grows

Last night I came home from grocery shopping (oh, the crazy and extravagant things you can do on payday) and saw one of my daisies starting to bloom! Now if only the 5 other plants would catch up.

It’s odd that I’ve really started to like gardening - I’ve never spent as much time taking care of plants or a yard as I do now. It’s partly because it’s something new - I’ve always liked learning new things. I can’t say that I follow through on some of the stuff I learn, but gathering the information is always fun. It’s also partly because it allows me to spend time with family and friends who are much better at this than I am, and their enthusiasm for new projects is catching. And it’s also partly because it’s making the front of the house I’m renting look so much better. It’s still nothing exceptionally beautiful, but it doesn’t look nearly as sad as it once did, and that makes it nicer to go home to. In fact, once the garden is in full bloom and I finish putting the mulch down I think it might just look colorful and lived-in.
