Sara’s Housewarming/29th Birthday party

email me if you would like to come and need directions.

The end of my 20’s is fast approaching. After getting over the shock of this fact I started thinking about what I wanted to do to celebrate. You see, the last few birthdays I’ve had have really sucked. Take a look at the last seven years and I think you’ll agree:

  • 28th - in the middle of a breakup and breakdown

  • 27th - alone, just moved to NYC, just started a new job (in other words - broke), recovering from appendectomy

  • 26th - alone, just arrived in NYC for the summer, desperately trying to find a job to be able to afford to feed myself let alone pay my July rent

  • 25th - in Utah for a summer job, didn’t really know anyone yet, and I couldn’t even find a place to go for a drink with my roommates

  • 24th - occurred in the middle of packing up and moving down south

  • 23rd - in the middle of tech week for a summer stock version of Triumph of Love, stressed out and exhausted, not to mention everyone forgot that it was my birthday

  • 22nd - in the middle of tech week for a summer stock version of Blues in the Night, stuck at a theatre in the middle of nowhere Illinois with a bunch of people I didn’t know yet (although some did become wonderful friends later on)

It’s never really been anyone’s fault that these things occurred on my birthday, but it still hasn’t left me with any pleasant memories. I’m determined that this year I’m breaking the cycle. I’m taking matters into my own hands, this birthday IS NOT going to suck. And it just so happens that I’m in the process of moving into a house so a housewarming is needed. If you’re reading this you’re invited. So are your friends, your family, and anyone else you can think of to bring along.

I’m not completely sure of the specifics yet, as I’ve taken enough allergy medication today to put me in a little bit of a medicine haze which is not conducive to coherent thought, so I will post them later, but it will be very low key and casual. I wanted to announce it ’cause there’s enough people who read this from out of town that I’d really like there, so if it’s possible just plan on coming to Grand Rapids the first weekend in June, ‘kay?
