phone interview #2

Okay, so this one didn’t go so well. It definitely wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. I had gotten my “thanks but no thanks” letter from Buffalo right before I got the phone call so I was not in the best of moods. Sure, when you send out applications you have to prepare yourself for rejection letters, but it’s still no fun to receive them. I know I interviewed well and if nothing else I got a free trip to go see my friend’s house (which was adorable and immaculate, even though Nina told me I had to avert my eyes from the dust.)

But I’m definitely going to Kentucky next Friday for an interview, which I’m excited about. And I’m waiting to hear back from Tulsa. And today I got an email from the chair of the dept. in Buffalo (yeah, the one that didn’t want me) telling me about a tenure-track position available at Niagara University that she recommended I apply for, so I’ll give it a shot. All of this has left me very tense, tired, anxious, and in need of a night of drinking. Not nearly as calm as the boys are, basking in the sun. Damn cats.
